Would you like to host the next LNM SIG event?
Call for expressions of interest
After successful annual seminars of the Language and New Media SIG in Leicester, Cardiff, London (QMUL), Reading and Milton Keynes (OU), we are now looking for expressions of interest from individuals and institutions who would like to hold the next annual event this academic year (2018-2019). The event can take a more traditional form of a conference, seminar, or a workshop, but we welcome other/non-traditional formats too.
Past events, usually held around Easter, had a clearly stated thematic or methodological focus, and involved both presentations and ample time for discussion and networking. They were aimed not only at presenting new research, but also at building a community of CMC scholars, advancing scholarship in this area and contributing to formulating guidelines for research practices in the UK and beyond. You can find more information about the SIG and its past events, including reports, on the SIG’s website (https://langnewmedia.weebly.com).
If you are interested in hosting an event, please send us a brief proposal (no more than one page long), including the following information:
- organising committee
- venue
- approximate dates (preferably around Easter)
- length of event (one day or two)
- title or theme
- short blurb elaborating on ideas (200 max)
- potential plenary speakers (if possible)
- preferred year (if you’d like to be considered for the following year rather than 2018-2019, please specify this in your proposal).
Please send your proposals to the SIG events coordinator Agnieszka Lyons ([email protected]) by 5pm on Friday 26th October 2018.
